The mixed emotions that come with completing a film
The pandemic gave us a lot of time to think about a lot of things. For me, it was my struggle with identity when I was growing up. My brother Guy told me, "Now's the time to tell your story."
Making a film is never solo effort. Rick Cockerham and Ali Azakka are amazing collaborators. I also am overwhelmed with gratitude to Dr. Chalmer Thompson, Mr. Michael Durso, Historian David Rotenstein, Coach Bob Milloy, and our wonderful cast (more about them later).
As we continue to edit coming closer to a final cut, I have a mix of emotions. I am excited for everyone to see this film which celebrates Springbrook and the unstoppable Blue Devils. I am nervous about sharing my secrets. I am thrilled to show I wasn't alone in high school, at least with inner struggles. And I am extremely proud of Gina, Dominique, Tom, Gene, Monique, Melissa, Jamie, Jeff and Chalmer for bravely telling their stories.
In the coming weeks, we'll be working with What's Your 50? to kick off a food drive for students in Montgomery County. At the end of the food drive, we will be sharing scenes from the documentary State Champions.
